Guideline Child Support

In California, clients will often hear the phrase “guideline child support” to determine child support. Guideline child support is a formula based upon how much money each parent earns and how much time the minor child spends with each parent. Usually the payor of child support is the parent who earns more money and spends less time with minor child. Minor changes in parenting time usually do not have a drastic influence on child support. Sometimes a decrease in 10 percent of time with the child will be less than $100 difference in child support.
